New Rift System poses challenges for crafters
I played on the Test Server yesterday and took a close look at the new riftway system. It seems great for adventurers as riftways are near outposts and dungeons so you're set down right near the adventuring quest-givers. At present there are a few challenges for crafters, especially for those who do the crafting quests.
On Thestra, Deebs no longer has a riftstone, but there is one in Trengal Keep and Silverlake. Those long treks to Halgarad or Darkhag will be longer because Vault of Heroes is gone, but there are riftstones at Veskals and Northern Border.
Qalia is a bit improved with riftstones added for Khal and Tuatiren Delta (makes Mekalia more accessible) and Hathor Zhi, but Lomshir riftstone is gone.
The biggest challenge is in Kojan. The Tawar Galan and Magi Hold riftstones are gone, with Jalan's Crossing, Tomb of Lord Tsang and Sundering Wasteland added. That makes Jalen's Crossing the closest to Tawar Galan and Ca'ial Brael and Lord Tsang's Tomb the closest to Tanvu.
So, keep those horseshoes up to date and your tack shiny, because we're going to be doing a lot of long hauls to get to crafting quest NPC's.

I did not check out the new system yet, as i'm still at work and my client should be upgrading at home as we speak, but if the riftways to kojan sites (i prefer to go to tanvu for kojan training) are so bad, maybe you have to reroute your traveling a bit:
First get to the riftstone nearest to you, take the one way ticket to NT by rift, ride up to the dockmaster and teleport you to Tanvu...
Not shure if this works in the new system, but i hope i'll find out when i'm at home

Yeah, I never understood why they bothered putting a riftway at TG when you can port there directly from Khal, Tanvu and NT... I'm a little sad that I'm losing the Deebs port, although the Silverlake one is only a chunk away.

Yes, this still works fine. With the addition of the hub rift at Khal, Khal is now an option to do this with too.
As for Lomshir - there are flying mounts at all riftways, and there is a new riftway at Temple of Dailuk. ToD and Khal both are an easy wyvern ride to Lomshir

http://www.vanguardcrafters.com/foru...ad.php?t=27022 states that:

- Teleporting dockmasters have been removed from the game

Anyone playing on Test could say what that means?
Sounds like Tawar Gallan became a far away destination.

Unfortunately the dockmasters / porters are no longer in the game. Not sure if there are still one-way rifts anymore or not either.

It doesnt seem to me like the devs like the crafter sphere atm. TG got an important crafting outpost and now is so hard to reach. And i even found gear (quest rewards of single player quests) that were better than UR crafted gear of same level.

Hmm, funny - a whole thread about riftstones and crafters, but nobody mentioned the one big new problem I have with the riftstones now: the damn trouble to get my lowlevel adventurer, highlevel crafter alt ANYWHERE. Because the level ranges at riftstones do NOT work with crafter level. Basically I have to buy a flying mount now all the time.
And yes, Tawar Galan is now really troublesome to reach. After GU4, I didnt went there a single time yet, with none of my crafters.
Maybe they should give us some crafter riftways, I dont know.

I thought I remember Silius or Tiraslee saying the riftways were supposed to utilize the highest level of any of your spheres... so this may be a bug and should be reported on the official forums. Of course, if it is working as intended then Silius is a bigger ass then I thought ... and I already thought the WORLD of him, lol.
That said, I whole-heartedly agree with you on the TG thing. I had done my crafting almost exclusivly (aside from crafting quests) out of TG. GU4 ruined that and essentially ruined crafting on Kojan entirely. Tanvu and Martok will only give decent workorders for so long and there is no riftway near a crafting area for Kojan rep except Varyn Dunes on ... QALIA?! A riftway or at least a bindstone in TG would be awesome.
I don't think the ferry from Khal to TG is working either is it? Salt in the wound.

And don't get me started on all the wonderful diplomacy stuff that's in TG.
I was running through the Initiate quests on my BS, continent by continent this week and I have to say that that it really seems silly that the closest riftstone to CB and TG is at Jalen's Crossing. Sure, it's a short ride, but it's also a short ride between Misthaven's Crossing and Veskal's Exchange, yet there is a riftway in each. To me, this is convenience overkill and unneeded. However, Tawar Galan is an important destination for many, yet it's not convenient to get there at all.
To hell with convenience, let's go with good sense. For my money, the could rip out all the green riftways. By the time you complete the Adv quests in one green rift area, you've probably outleveled most of the others, so why would you need to riftstone to get to them? The hubs make it easy enough to get from continent to continent, anyway. Yeah, I know, there's probably a thoughtful design reason, but I'm utterly failing to see it.
My bitter wish: remove green rifts from adjacent chunks and add a rift to TG. Oh yeah, and add something to Eastern Thestra.
Okay, I'm done.
